Project Overview - Don Adan Coffee

The Don Adan Coffee website had a few incarnations since 2009, but was last built in 2012. It was functional to a point, had some broken elements and was not mobile responsive. The site also had not been optimised for page load speed or user engagement. Content was also outdated, spam posts had been approved and the site needed a total rebuild to bring it up to best practice standards for 2015.

The client also wanted to embrace an E-commerce solution and sell his coffee as an online subscription service. In our view, the existing website platform was not considered ideal and we recommended a change to WordPress, complimented with our Premium WordPress hosting and security upgrade.

There are few ( if any) coffee sellers in Australia that can rival the backstory of Don Adan Coffee.

The family heritage with coffee stretches back in an unbroken chain of over 150 years, to the first coffee bean plantations in South America in the 1800’s. In modern times, The Barrios family have been multi award winning coffee growers, roasters and retailers.

Established in Sydney Australia in the 1990’s, Don Adan has 3 cafes and is also the roaster behind many coffees sold under various retail brands.

An important element of this website build was to tell the unique backstory, as well as emphasise the fact this is multi award winning coffee and to introduce the coffee to a growing online market of coffee buyers.

Don Adan Coffee website scored 100/100 for mobile user experience ( UX). With over 50 % of traffic to the website coming via mobile devices, it was paramount to ensure a high UX score. We were really pleased with this perfect score for mobile User Experience (UX) though we have noted some additional changes we will apply, based on real human engagement via mobile.

Page Speed Optimisation - 91%

Don Adan Coffee website scored an initial 91% page speed test. This is more than satisfactory for a new site launch, though with further optimisation we plan to drive that toward 100%. For reference, the industry average is 80%, so we have come in well above the average on this project – as we expect to do always.
